Here’s how to fix an issue where when you print from Firefox all of the text prints out very small on the page even though it appears normal sized on your computer screen. I have only witnessed this issue on a PC that is running Firefox, and it appears to somehow happen on its own. I will also however, include instructions for fixing the issue on a Mac as well.
Fix For Firefox Printing Too Small – PC Version
1. From within Firefox, click on File => Page Setup
2. Set the Scale value to 100% on the Page Setup screen and click OK. Firefox should now print using its normal font size.
Fix For Firefox Printing Too Small – Mac Version
1. From within Firefox, click on File => Page Setup
2. Set the Scale value to 100% on the Page Setup screen and click OK. Firefox should now print using its normal font size.
Although I posted this information to show you how to stop Firefox from printing too small, there may be instances where you actually want to “shrink” the print size within Firefox. If this is the case, you would simply set the Scale value under Firefox’s Page Properties to perhaps 80% in order to consolidate as much print as possible onto a single page.
Lastly, if you wanted to increase the print size for Firefox printouts then you could set your Scale value to more than 100%, say perhaps 125%. This could be beneficial to those who have difficult with vision or if a particular webpage uses a very small font to begin with.

Thank you so much – nobody else seemed to know what to do with it including Firefox support.
Thanks so much for this info! I was going out of my mind trying to work out how suddenly my browser had started to print in a tiny, barely readable font. Your a life saver!
Thanks Mike! This was much more help than the mozilla “help”. I was mucking around with print reconfig stuff to no avail, never thought to look at the page setup menu in firefox….
Thank you SO MUCH!!! I had been searching for Yahoo printing problems. Luckily I stumbled across this place. Appreciate it!
Thanks, that does seem to work – but what I don’t get is why “shrink to page width” so often shrinks to 1/2-page width in the first place? It doesn’t happen with all web sites, but with many – especially the ones that get fancy with having separate sections for headers, footers, left and right margin stuff, etc.
So, it has to be a page design issue – except that these pages print out FINE with IE, so that means it’s the interaction of page design with what the browser interprets as page design intent.
I see on one symptomatic web site, that what is happening is that the footer is full width of the page, but the whole rest of the content is squished onto half the width. I’ll have to look at the HTML I guess to see why it’s doing this.
Hi! This is awesome. I’m a customer support representative for a online shopping website and I received a call from one of our members who’s experiencing trouble printing her shipping label and since Im not a techie person, I tried my luck googling how to make it work and good thing I came across your site and my customer problem got resolve in no time. Thanks.
Your Awesome!!! This has been bugging me for about a month. I have been coping coupons and pics to Windows Paint to work around this or going into the Page Setup of the printer and having it print at 300%. Have no idea how mine got changed to 30%. Thanks again for sharing your simple fix to the problem.
Brilliant! Instant fix to a problem that’s been bugging me for ages. Thank you!
You are the man! And you saved a laptop from being thrown out a window (without opening the window first). Yes, I have anger management issues.
Thanks, Mike. That’s a big help. – Dave
Thank you so much. It has been making me crazy. My setting actually said 30%. I have no idea how that happened, but this fix worked perfectly.
Thank’s for coming to my site Kathleen! Glad to hear that I was able to help!
Thank you for posting an answer to this dilemma that I could actually understand! Very clear directions — works great. Thank you!
