A CNET article entitled “Email addicts losing sense of propriety, risk” details the disturbing findings of an email addiction study conducted by Osterman Research. The study concludes that people who are addicted to email are more likely to engage in risky or even dangerous behavior such as checking email while driving. In summary, 95% of the people surveyed check work email outside of work. A further 78% of people surveyed checked email while in the bathroom, and 11% of the survey group checked email during “intimate moments.” This article is an excellent read.
